The Loyola Academy Ramblers handled the DePaul Prep Rams 48-38 at Loyola on Friday (Jan. 12, 2018). Very well played game by both teams. I have been to quite of a few of the matchups between these teams in recent years and I always leave feeling like it was more of a boxing match than a basketball game.
This time we'll have a rematch real quick--like three days later. Both squads advanced in the MLK Tournament and will face each other again at Loyola on Monday. The last time the Rams lost a big game, they quickly avenged their defeat by dropping St. Rita. They will have yet another tall order on Monday against the red hot Ramblers.
The Catholic League Blue is still wide open. The Rams have conference games remaining against St. Joseph, Fenwick, DeLaSalle, Br. Rice and Mt. Carmel. Loyola has a 2-1 record in the Blue with its loss coming to St. Rita. The Ramblers have remaining leagues against St. Ignatius, DeLaSalle, St. Joseph and Fenwick. Fenwick is 2-0 in the Blue with games remaining against St. Joseph, St. Rita, DePaul Prep, St. Ignatius and Loyola.
